@[ Lestrades.com ] Nao 尚 Thanks for your reply! OK good to hear 5/10 isn't too bad :-)

In reply to your question, I mostly use Cheat Engine to cheat. It's a mini-game in itself-- trying to find the proper variables to edit. Some games are easier to hack than others. It's not due to a lack of patience but simply lack of time. I just don't have time to play games these days, so when I hack a game, I hack time. (And I feel like a straight version of that cool Chinese guy from Mr. Robot.)

I assure you that for a casual game, 5/10 in Canard PC is a decent rating. I don't remember seeing more than 3 or 4 casual games get a 8 or 9 let alone 10 in their pages. In fact they generally don't review casual games. Bad publicity is publicity anyway, isn't it? I'd love to have seen my game reviewed 3/10 in Canard PC back in the day. I'd be happily throwing away my copies at passerbys. "Look, they reviewed me! And they didn't give me a zero!" :P

Plot issue -> ask someone for help :P There's always a way to get away with it.

Yes I realise Luck (stat) can sometimes be annoying if you had a run planned but ultimately in testing it still proved to be an advantage.

Wow that 5/10 rating is a burn. There's lots more to the game than just luck and I just don't think some people realise how much influence they can have on things. It's a shame when I see reviews like that.

As for the Gaol and the mask, yeah, it just had to stay on for the plot to work :-)

@[ Lestrades.com ] Nao 尚 Regarding Relaxed mode, when you start a new game there's some text telling you what's different about it however I planned to add a tooltip to the mode checkboxes on the Select Chapter screen. Basically in relaxed mode you don't have to beat the enemies (and the enemies are a bit easier) or the chapter goals (but they are left in as something to aim for).

How did you cheat? Some third party app or is it a cracked version?

Relaxed mode was added 1 week after launch and so lots of people had already beaten it before it was added. The first week had the most purchases.

It's definitely possible to beat in very hard mode, but it's hard :-) You have to have built up the correct skills and loadout along the way and the patience ;-)

Oops, sorry I didn't realise people had replied to this thread, so sorry for the super-slow response. Anyway, some replies!

@Alistair L: Ah great catch, we'll fix that in the next update. I already banned active abilities and wildcards from the first tutorial.

@Bobwhiz: Yep that was done in V1.06

@Prothean: Sorry we sent the builds to GoG but they have to manually set them live and seeing as it was over Christmas, they didn't do it quickly. Also normally I let the builds have a few days on Steam as testing before sending them to GoG.

(Also, the gaol chapter-- SPOILER ALERT---
why the heck did nobody take off her mask when she got arrested? I mean the Sprys knew her, they'd have recognized her immediately. Suspension of disbelief..?)

Yet, if there's a method to win the final chapter without getting incredible luck, I'd be curious to know it! I'll redo it in relaxed mode just so I can tell myself I beat the game normally. :P

Good game overall, thanks for your work, but I forgot to mention something in my review: the 'luck' attribute can somehow be unlucky. Getting a card removed randomly when you have a preestablished path for a great combo can ruin said combo. It happened more than a few times to me! I'd have liked to get my luck to zero in these situations. ^^

PS: Canard PC (leading French magazine) gave you 5/10. Which for them is a pretty good rating. Their main issue with the game is that despite the RPG mechanics and the nice coating, it's ultimately mostly based on luck rather than skill.

So, to answer my own question-- just finished the game. I did all chapters on Relaxed mode, and for the final one I switched to Very hard. It was not only just 'very hard', it was impossible-- getting a 30 overkill on one of those bosses? Lol... Getting full 3 stars on all fights? This would mean beating the final boss (165 HP) in 25 turns or less. I enabled cheats to get a fighting chance but even after that, after 12 turns or so he used a potion for +84 HP, I think... I figured I'd just set his HP to 1 and kill him. Voilà. Got all 3 difficulty achievements, so I suppose the inconsistency in the global achievement stats page (that Relaxed mode had fewer unlocks than Very hard) was due to people using SAM to unlock them, or beta testers unlocking it before you started giving all 3 when beating the hardest mode.

Also, the achievements aren't clear-- do you need to play the entire game in Hard mode to win that achievement? Or do you just need to finish the last chapter with it? I remember with Witcher 3 I've read stories about people who did 99% of the game in hard mode, then switched to normal mode for one fight, and ended up getting the achievement for 'normal' mode only (ouch that hurts.)
Also, while I'm on it, global stats seem to show that if you complete the game in hard mode, you don't get the 'relaxed' and 'normal' achievements... Seriously? Why would you encourage people to replay the game in normal mode when they just finished hard mode? ;)

Can you make it clear in-game what advantages relaxed mode has over the rest..? Because I just mentioned that in my half-way review-- the fact that I was pressured even in relaxed mode into beating the chapter goals (and duels, I didn't even know I didn't have to win them..), and then when I lost one chapter, I was able to continue. I was really, really annoyed that I'd missed my goal, and after it offered me to continue, I clicked that, but even then I was so♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ I still redid the earlier chapter, lol.

@Bobwhiz, you mean on a chapter, after completing it, right..?
