eh... freedom to play how we want is a fine thing. you could do everything without a fighter unless a quest calls for it just fine.

some people handicap themselves some people like to steam roll... nothing wrong with either style and as long as one has fun and enjoys it thats all that really matters in the end...

internet can lead one to think of an optimal way to play... but really... the goal I do believe is to do what you want and like
