VAC Ban out of the blue.

I've just been banned today by VAC (Counter Strike: Global Offensive), even though no hacks have ever been on this system. I do, however, use a program called EZBlocker that blocks ad's from Spotify. Could this potentially cause a ban? Can I get this appealed? The program in no way interacted with CSGO, and only blocked the known advertisers for Spotify, similar to how AdBlockPlus works on Chrome/Firefox. I see some other people have been wrongly banned pretty recently, is there something going on? I trust that it'll get sorted out but this feel's oddly out of place, considering the circumstances.

There's always going to be people that say they got wrongly banned, or banned for nothing and there's nothing anyone can do around here to confirm or deny its legitimacy. The only thing you can do is contact Steam support so they can do so, click help at top and ''Steam support'' and then make a seperate support account and axplain your situation and set it.

Yeah, I understand that people will always say they "didn't do it", but I already sent in a ticket to steam support and I'll see when they get back to me. You state you know VAC? Obviously you dont, since you got banned. Noone here can help you. Making this thread is a waste of time, since noone can do anything about the ban.

VAC does not ban for things such as this. VAC bans for using cheats.

Malek is entirely correct in saying you do not understand how VAC works. The above statement clearly shows that. VAC does not ban for "blocking ip's," VAC bans for detecting known cheat signatures when your account connects to a VAC secured server. If none of the cheat signatures are detected, it does nothing. If a cheat signature on file is detected, it issues a ban flag which results in a delayed ban some time afterward. VAC does not ban for other reasons despite what people like to claim.

I'm really wondering about what could have possibly tripped the ban in the first place, as I haven't even been playing anything more than VS AI recently.

VAC bans are permanent. Contacting support will result in them confirming whether the ban was applied correctly or not, but they will not tell you what triggered it (This is to slow the development of new cheats) or remove the ban. There is almost no chance of getting a "false ban" and when they do rarely happen they generally involve many hundreds or even thousands of accounts all at once.

What you 'see' is simply people who have cheated in various games and are trying to lie their way out of the bans. This happens with extreme regularity on this forum, as you can notice easily if you read back several pages. However, nearly every instance of a banned account ends up remaining banned despite all of the stories people tell. In many cases, forum users locate outside evidence that the banned individual has cheated, is part of a cheat website, has downloaded cheats, etc. which proves their lies. There is nothing "going on" except the usual business of cheaters being cheaters. VAC detects a known cheat, an account gets banned. It's as simple as that.

I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about, If it's about me, This is most certainly my main account, with 136 games.

It was simply an assumption, but thanks for the info. I guess that rules out one option, so I'm just gonna leave this one up to the support team.

this is not a 100% correct.
VAC bans for cheat signatures and modifying core files., do not take my word for it it is in the FAQ

if valve hashes a cheat file and adds it to the cheat database it becomes detected , they won't add ad blocking software to that list just cheats.

What tools? Unless they have some kind of tool that can change or interject your game files you are safe from a vac ban as it only initiates a ban if the core game files have been altered or additional files added.
