Streaming from Macbook Pro, Controllers Don't Work
I'm having a controller issue specific to In-Home Streaming that has popped up sometime over the past few Steam updates.

I am in-home streaming to a Macbook Pro mid-2012, and when a game starts, the overlays will detect both my connected PS4 controller, as well as an Xbox 360 controller that does not exist. The controller will not register input through the stream, but keyboard/mouse control through the stream will still work.

This only happens when attempting to use a controller while streaming from the Macbook. It persists no matter what game is played, so issue is not game-specific. The controller will work just fine, both wired and wireless, while connected & playing locally on either client. The same controller will also work properly when used with Steam Link hardware.

At this point I have tried every troubleshooting step I can think of. Enabling/Disabling Controller Configuration Support on both host and client computers, deregistering controllers, trying multiple types of controllers (same issue is happening with a DualShock 4, a Switch Pro Controller, and a Steam Controller), rebooting both computers, completely uninstalling/reinstalling the Steam clients on both PC and Macbook, and I have tried both streaming from Big Picture and the standard Steam client with the same results.

Does anyone have a clue as to why this would be happening? Not even a few months ago, I was able to play through In-Home Streaming perfectly with the same exact setup. Any help would be appreciated.

I had a similair issue this morning, I haven't used my Mac in a while and just tried to stream to it and the Steam Controller was not detected. Are you on the Steam Client Beta?
If so, I was able to get it to recognize the controller by unchecking participation in the Steam Client beta, letting it download the normal client, and then rejoining and downloading the Beta client. Hope this helps!

I’m not participating in the Beta, usually figured that the normal releases are more stable?

I’ll try and check into the Beta and see if it resolves!

Tried to troubleshoot again after the latest update...seems like it now works for some games (Spelunky, Rogue Legacy) but doesn't work for others (Cuphead, Iconoclasts, Subnautica).

What's weird is that Steam overlay on my host gaming PC sees two controllers when I try to stream from it using Macbook...my DualShock4 (connected to Mac), and an Xbox 360 controller that doesn't exist. And games that DO work only function if the 360 "controller" is adjusted to be the Primary Controller in Big Picture overlay.

I'm just gonna chalk it up to Steam being broken on Mac at this point. :steamsad:
