If so, I was able to get it to recognize the controller by unchecking participation in the Steam Client beta, letting it download the normal client, and then rejoining and downloading the Beta client. Hope this helps!
I’ll try and check into the Beta and see if it resolves!
What's weird is that Steam overlay on my host gaming PC sees two controllers when I try to stream from it using Macbook...my DualShock4 (connected to Mac), and an Xbox 360 controller that doesn't exist. And games that DO work only function if the 360 "controller" is adjusted to be the Primary Controller in Big Picture overlay.
I'm just gonna chalk it up to Steam being broken on Mac at this point.
