The first computer animated movie that never came to be.
In the 1980s, the New York Institute of Technology (N.Y.I.T.) began working on what was supposed to be the first computer animated film titled "The Works", written and directed by Lance Williams. In the distant future, a malfunctioning computer that controls the robots that inhabit Earth triggered a World War. Realising what it had done, it set out to repopulate the planet entirely of robots. Had this film come out, it would've been groundbreaking for its time but during production, there were problems.
You see, during the 80s, computer animation was in its early stages and... saying it was a little tricky to do an animated movie or an animated short was an understatement, unlike nowadays where animating movies is just a breeze. Back then it was more like trying to juggle grenades in the hope that nothing goes wrong. Those who worked on the film began to lose interest due to these problems and some believing it will never be released. I heard somewhere that the more they worked on the film, the more the animation stated to look more... dated.
So, the film was canned, but despite this a trailer was made, which is available online, and as we all know, Toy Story was released in 1995 and became the first computer animated movie in film history.
That's all the information I could find about "The Works" and here is the link to the trailer; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAxfzwB7I8s

Interesting.
1980s CGI at its finest.
Interesting :VBCOOL:

I remember many tv-channels used Amiga computers to make their logos and jingles and such back in the 80s, which I think was a bit cool since I had an Amiga 1000 (and later 500)
