which Warhammer? fantasy or 40k?

never really touched fantasy but if you wanna start from somewhere in 40k check the wiki[warhammer40k.fandom.com] and Lexicanum[wh40k.lexicanum.com], some games from here too to get an idea, if you wish for the minis then there are some people around here who are painting too.

Which Warhammer? The only real good games for Warhammer 40k are the Dawn of War Series which is a top down RTS game, the two Space Marine games even though I currently am angry at the devs for ruining SM2, and Dark Tide. I never got into the other games. The Black Library Novels are also good. As for Warhammer fantasy I only know of Vermintide 2. I think Warhammer fantasy is more of a Salamander question. As for COD no clue.

Dawn of War 2 with all of it's expansions best 40k rts ever. non-disputable.

I dunno I liked the first series better because of the squad sizes and over all larger combat. Soulstorm is only good when modded though with something like DOWPRO. Vanilla wise, yeah DOW2 is superior. Still DOW1 has all the delicious memes. SPESS MEHRENS!

Tabletop Warham? Well whichever game you want to play, I have this advice: third party retailers exist and can sell you the horrendously expensive things for slightly cheaper. You can also find stuff second-hand and all it will need at most is a good paint strip and some filing.

Videogame Warham? Play games.

COD? Go fishing on an Atlantic trawler

my most glorious Warhammer 40K memory is when my White Scars Space Marines (all geared towards fast attack) completely wiped out a teenage girl's Dark Eldar in basically the first turn

she was not very happy

You ever read that story of that one tournament where some guy was cheesing drop pods and would drop his army in after a turn or two, so some guy perfectly spaced out his figures around the edges of the table and the guy for some reason couldn't drop in and lost before the match even started? It's like one of those insane tabletop moments.
