Anyway to sell scripts for games?
I have a full-fledged idea of a game that I think would be a good idea.
However, I lack the ability and appropriate age. Is there anyway I could sell or produce it in about 3 years somehow?
The plot is very different from your average game.

If you're too young to sell a game, you're the perfect age to start learning how to program. The older you get, the harder it is to learn new things, like a programming language. If you try to get others to do it, just know that no one will put as much effort into it as you will.

If you do decide to sell it, try to keep as much ownership of it as you can. Write down a description of it as detailed as possible and make sure you date it and maybe get someone else as a witness. A company that has stolen someone's idea will go to great lengths to make it seem like it was their property all along. Anything you have that will prove it was your idea first will help in court.

You know the intermittent wipers on cars? The inventor patented that idea in 1965, spent 30 years battling the big 3 automakers in court and finally got paid in 1995. Protect yourself and your ideas. Good luck.

Ok, because I think gaming is great for story-telling. Should I start learning literature or developing?

I guess I'll study music too. Since my hands aren't very good.

What is this game about?

It's about a group of friends who fall on a canyon resulted by experiments.
To make it in one sentence. The gameplay would be a rythm beat em up.

From the current state of most games, I'd have to say that most devs/pubs care very little about an actual quality story and much more about catchy characters and/or themes. Not to say that story theft can't happen, but rather that (I think) most developers unethical enough to steal ideas would likely rather risk stealing the characters and themes, as these are "safer" and more difficult to "prove" theft.

What do you mean by selling scripts? You dont build games with scripts, you build them with source files that compile into code that the operating system reads, transalates and then send to the hardware.

OP meant storyboard writing, story outlining, etc, not AI scripts or pathing scripts or anything like that.

The characters are natural and it deals with some dark themes.

I mean like plot scripts, I just want to realise the idea and if I can make it happen than good. I'll learn some dev-ing too.

Is it an idea you could write a book about first? Just something to get people talking about it and build up a fan base. Or is it a game that could run on a phone? There are app developer kits available (I haven't tried any). All I know is the internet has opened up a whole universe of things my parents told me I'd never be able to make any money at (drawing comics, playing video games, etc)

Never let anybody tell you an idea is too stupid. Do whatever you want in this life before you die, just don’t hurt anyone else while you do it.

I guess I can write a book with my short-edged English.
I'll have to finish learning German first though, I need to understand what people are talking about here.
