Why the hell are LEGOs so expensive!?!?!?
I never played with LEGOs as a kid and I think I know why... I watched a tested video on youtube of this realy cool LEGO Millennium Falcon so I decided to do some research on it and guess ♥♥♥♥♥♥ wut? no less than 3500 dollars for a new set.... lul why.... I realize that one is out of production or whatever but the same applys to just normal in-stock sets. Any normal large set is no less than 100-200 bucks. I mean it's just little pieces of plastic. How expensive could it possibly by to make that? Maybe the precision takes time? I don't know... All I know is, I would love to sit down for hours construct the spaceships from my childhood but... I don't have thousands of dollars to spend so I'll stick to LEGO Star Wars the game I guess lol

Where are you looking? I found one for under $250 at Walmart. Even on the official site it's $800.

Imo Quality on the bricks and materiall do cost, if you cheap out on those in order to keep the cost down it will be noticed.
And yea officiall branding like Starwars, Marvels etc cost extra because they have to pay royalties to varius companies that own that specific brand. so dubbel cost there for the consumer.

Because LEGOs are higher quality than knockoffs like Megablox. Think of it like $60 Grand Theft Auto vs the free Google Play Store game Gang the Auto: Mafia City.

Yeah but I also have hundreds of hours into GTA 5 and it only costed me 60 bucks whereas a 500 dollar lego set maybe takes you a day to build and then it sets on the shelf...

I'm confused, the most expensive lego set (to date) is the Millenium Falcon, which is $800. Where did you get $3500 from? Yeah, legos are expensive, but that's because they're in-demand and always will be, plus the parts can be re-used for whatever you want.

realistically you buy cheap sets with lots of blocks and build your own version of what you want. Someone probably scanned the instructions already online
I think you can get PDF copies of the instructions off their Website.

You're talking about this one:

Which is extremely less detailed also much smaller. the "kids" version if you will

Right.... and those are *limited*, obviously they'll be more expensive, that's the same as me comparing a rare Blue Eyes White Dragon card to a regular one, their prices WILL differ.

Right, but is that price difference worth the "bigger" version? You could buy multiple *smaller* sets and potentially make a *bigger* version, just one has "collector's edition' plastered over it. It's cherry-picking.

It's just not the same... the 75105 is something you can build with your kid in like a couple hours wheras the 10179 requires a true labor and can be used as a decoration centerpiece once finished. Not to mention the journey of building the thing its self. All that said, it sounds wonderful but who really has that kind of cash...

Legos just are expensive, since they're sold in a mass-quantity, have re-useable parts, are made to withstand years of torment, and they're in-demand, always will be. Also, it's weird saying that it's only 75k, whereas the more expensive version is only 1/4th more. Really, you're just limiting yourself to one diagram when you think of it like that, you're able to create virtually anything with the parts you bought once.
Zekiran 1/fev./2018 às 22:45
Licensing and durability. I have 50+ year old legos in my collection. They look and work just exactly like the new ones (albeit in a limited color range).

Honestly, they're worth it. They're the kind of toy that you'll play with forever, pass along to others, and enjoy doing darn near anything with.

That number was the model of the set not the price
