I also have retro games on my XBOX 360, some of which can be played on the XBOX ONE via backwards compatibility.
There are people who enjoy those games, sorry you don't.
Pixel art exists and are popular today because it's cheaper to develop, and really nice all the same, assuming you like it lol
Nobody with a minimal knowledge in game design that actually played some of these "retro" style indie games compare it with real retro lol they're completely different in terms of data storage, art/sound limitation, and know how for it's time
Anyway, every game you are interested are featured in sites like gamespot or ign, since they have mainstream appeal. Why the hell you are looking for games on steam for starters? Just type the name of the next hyped game on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ search.
Doom came out in 1993 and quickly gained OpenGL 3D support.
He reminds me of that guy in santa clause is coming to town, the king who hated all other toys except yoyos, everyone must play with yoyos.
Personally speaking 1983 is an awesome retro nod and one of my fav free games on steam.
I bet there are lot's of older gamers, on Steam, who appreciate these retro games.
Probably going to get me one of those re-issue Amiga's when they become available here in NL...
You make a good general point though (even though you don't mention it specifically).
The filter system is lacking. And...
Personally I hate seeing games wrongly advertised (every "dungeon crawler" appearantly is a "Rogue Like", every other game is a simulation (even card trading games) etc.).
Also the years of the groundbreaking NES.
Still love playing Zelda.
Personally speaking I'd rather play mario world or sonic 2, doom gives me a headache.
Stuff like Luftrausers, Super Crate Box, Rabi Ribi, One Finger Death Punch, Hotline Miami etc. tend to make games like Dark Souls or Skyrim feel slow and clunky.
Here's a great way to not see those types of retro games OP. Get to your search filters on the Steam store, and do exactly what all the anime haters do, and instead of putting in "anime" and "visual Novel" in to be blocked, add "retro", "pixel art" and hell, might as well add "2d" to the list just to be sure. Problem solved. The store no longer shows that which you do not wish to see, and you can quit crying like an entitled child over something that has zero impact on you.
As for me, as always, I couldn't give two carts full of dog poo over the appearance of a game. I am there for great gameplay first, great story second, and everything else a FAR distant third.
