Microsoft seem to be pushing a lot's of efforts in 2-in one PC , Laptop/tablet hybrids and I think it's might eventually help them stay revelant in the long term.
Linux is doing well but I don't think it's going to get the major share of the gaming community anything soon , it's more used to make servers and other stuffs then gaming machines.
Apple is aiming their computer more toward artists and the like then gamers so their computers are not optimised for gaming.
The thing about Wine is that you still need Windows, so Microsoft still wins.
If there is a threat to their dominance, rest assured that they will 1. squash it and/or 2. steal it.

Captured is right, as it implies non voluntaryism. That's one of microsoft's anti-consumer practices-- Holding your PC hostage.
