Yes it is depending on the equipment you have. Not all can be overclocked. Sounds like you know very little about computers and overclocking is not for noobs. You can cook your computer if not done properly. Also overclocking gives mostly minor improvements to performance and can cause instability so it might not be worth it unless you are well schooled in the process. .

Honestly, unless you can overclock a massive amount, you won't see much of a difference. A PC is only as fast as it's slowest component.

Overclocking has it's risk. You could short/fry the CPU and/or motherboard and/or GPU, for example. It also reduces the live expectancy of the components and voids the warranty.

Then there is the financial investment. You would most likely need to buy a better fan or a water cooling system in order to keep the overclocked component cool enough to run.

In the end, it isn't really worth overclocking. Most do it as a hobby or for a contest.

First rule of overclocking: Don't do it if you can't afford to replace your system.

Yes you can. No you shouldn't. If you have never built a pc before, then don't attempt it. Huge risk as stated by everyone so far. If its perfromance you're looking for, invest in a really good rig.

If it is a laptop, don't overclock. The cooling in those things are horrible enough as it is. A cooling pad is designed for normal temperatures and will not do much to help with overclocking.

If any tech ever claims they can overclock a laptop, run and don't look back.

Not in a laptop.

Remember, that is a vary small space. Heat can build far faster there then in a Desktop. Those things were designed for portability, not upgrades/modifications.

Best thing to do with a laptop is to buy a new one.

Or better yet, get a desktop.

Some more expensive laptops can both overclock and also swap graphics cards and even CPUs. However these are the exception and they usually cost like $5000+.

If you had one of those you wouldn't even need to overclock it.

My advice to you is buy a desktop. I'd be happy to help with builds if you will build one.

Some laptops in the $1000 plus range have replaceable GPUs. Most do not. List your model number.

You can not overclock most laptops. There are very few exceptions. In fact they typically use underclocked hardware to keep the heat down. Laptops are not the best choice for gaming.
