Reverting Windows 10 apps to its original versions?

Recently, I reinstalled my entire computer, which made me have to downgrade from Windows 11 back to Windows 10. I figured out that I should spend the remaining days until the End of Life for Windows 10 later in October 2024, and until Microsoft fixes their dumpster fire of an OS to the point it's more stable as Windows 10's.

I was stuck with the apps came from Windows 10 19Hx (the copyright dates were in 2019). I had no Fluent-looking apps on the fresh install. I liked it, actually, the highlight thing from Windows 10's original design language (MDL2) were one of the features I liked in Windows 10. It also matches with 10's UI, obviously.

Then, with what people said about Micro$oft, their "infinite wisdom", they slapped me with these iMpOrTaNt UpDaTeS. On the bright side, it updated and installed some of my drivers, but the downside was that I lost the good ol' Win10 apps from 2019. Apps like the Camera, Clock, Movies & TV, or Calculator now utilizes the Fluent design from Win11, which I don't like due to it being inconsistent with the OS.

I know in Android they let you revert back to an app's default factory version even if it's not supported anymore. But there's no such option in Windows, the reset button just resets and made it as if you just installed the app for the first time (probably).

Does anyone know a way to do or around this? I don't feel like getting a 19H2 ISO and reinstalling everything again after all I've done. Thanks.

Win11 is more stable atm if you stay on 23H2. 24H2 is optional and it will most likely be recalled or hot fixed later.

24H2 user, never had an issue, in fact never had an issue on Win 10 or 11.

Then again I don't try to run Windows from the future with hardware from the past which will barely be able to run it.

Why are you allowing WinOS to dictate your Drivers via WUm That's a YOU problem.

I had compatibility issues. Some programs and devices that I tried to run/use in Win11 just straight up don't work, while in Win10 they all work flawlessly.

But mostly, I downgraded for the looks of Win10. I kinda like the charm of it.

Windows Update updating drivers has nothing to do on what I am talking about. Sure, maybe it is a bad idea to let it ruin your drivers or something, but I never have a problem with it. If we have to drag Windows Update to this, then it's probably the CUs that's updating the apps.

The main problem I'm talking about is to revert the original Win10 apps, I want to retain the look of the OS pre-11. I think the Fluent apps look out of place in Win10.

Additionally, the older Microsoft Store clients seem to be functional since I last checked about 4 months ago, I think. I'm not sure if they broke or killed support for it at this time, but that's what I know.

That sounds more like you just have mo clue how to use and configure Win11. Since that part IS different compared to Win10. They both use the same drivers.

Always install Pro or better, never Home. This way you have Group Policy Editior and can properly make Admin level changes. Like disabling the Driver part of Windows Updates.

Aside from Windows Updates you also need to launch the Microsoft Store and perform those updates regularly too. As some things you might do can rely upon plug-ins or apps from that store app.

This is besides the point of the main topic, but fine, i'll bite.

What do you mean by "They both use the same drivers"? Are you saying that the 11 drivers are just 10 drivers? If so, then I do sort of know about it since 11 and 10 share the similar NT version. That's why MS store apps work in both OSes. Unless if you refer to my statement on compatibility issues, then that's a different one. The drivers for the programs and devices i mentioned are no longer supported, so they don't show up in Windows Update anyway. That leaves me with chipset/motherboard/integrated display/BIOS updates.

Also, I do use the Pro version of Windows. It came with Home Single Language, but I upgraded it to Pro for the GPEdit. Though, I never knew about disabling driver updates for Windows Update, so I'm taking notes of that in case if I needed it in the future.

i had win 10 slimmed down for 2010 netbook that actually was peppy, but all it takes is one of their forced updates to ruin 6 hours or whatever of work
