Under Windows Control Panel and Display have you used the Windows settings to change the brightness?

Did you make sure "reference mode" in color settings is off?

It has an over-ride check box there you have to click first.

Unchecking the "override reference mode" option solved my problem! I wasn't able even to activate Windows Night Light mode then... thanks MasherOfWorlds!

Well also if you have HDR enabled in WinOS, it won't allow for the Night Mode toggle either, keep in mind. I never use that though, instead I configure one of the Monitor presets for lower brightness and contrast for lengthy reading time and alike and simply press the button on my Monitor to quickly switch between presets. I never liked how Night Light Mode on WinOS or Phones looks. If you get a good Monitor and gets used to using its presets it makes PC life so much easier. I have my Monitor presets setup like this:

> True RGB for Photo Editing

> Low Light profile for Reading Mode

> FreeSync enabled for Gaming with higher contrast and slightly higher saturation

> Another for Gaming but focused on helping out for when it is very dark in some games
