CPU strong enough for upcoming games?
My specs:
AMD A8 6600K OC to 4.5ghz, 4 cores (LIQUID-COOLED!)
MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G, 4GB of GDDR5 memory (3.5+0.5)
HyperX Savage 16 GB (2*8) 1600mhz DDR3 RAM
Kingston 240 GB SSD
WD Green 3 TB HDD
ASRock FM2A78M-HD+ mainboard

My question: Do I NEED TO UPGRADE my CPU for upcoming games like BATTLEFIELD 1, MAFIA 3, WATCH DOGS 2 et cetera? ( I would take the FX 8350, 8*4ghz, with a brandnew asus mainboard, because of budget, dont want to spend so much money for an Intel CPU)

LEMME KNOW WHAT U GUYS THINK ABOUT IT!
Thank you guys so much:steamhappy:

Would spend 260 euros to change my CPU to FX 8350 and Asus 970 PRO, is it worth it?
Nice build, but what's your graphics card? Huge factor in games.

GTX 970 by MSi
This is a good resource to compare CPUs by real world performance:

Comparing CPUs by clock speed and core count is like comparing cars by rpm and cylinder count.
AMD is dead, wait for AMD Zen CPU or get an Intel i5 6600 for $210 or so.
Not likely. Once you have a quad core, that'll cover it. Games are not as CPU intensive as tthey used to be 10 years ago. Now most of the load is done by the gfx cards.
amd fx is weak, the apus are below that
the apu will never be able to max out the gtx 970, even when massively overclocked

go with a skylake i3 or i5 for gaming

Advisible. i7 are technically more powerful buuut, they offer very little performance difference when applied to gaming. Now if you're doing high res movie editing f'getaboutit.

The i7 is basically an i5 with hyperthreading.
no

amd fx is weak, apus are even weaker

the apu board will not take an fx cpu

upgrade to an i3 or i5 for gaming

gtx 970 is sitll a great gpu when not being held back by the amd cpu

If you're in nVidia pocket, then skip this generation ('cuz your GTX 970 are still powerful enough) and wait for next one with full DX12 support.
4 cores, 8 cores - for most games there are no difference. In raw power it's signifant upgrade, in terms of gaming - it's waste of money.
Core i3 has only 2 physical cores (and 4 threads) which not enough for some games, so, don't buy it.
Core i5 recommended for gamers, but you may overrun your budget.

Ty for ya answer:)
Get a decent Intel I5 with a K. 6600k and you will be fine. Not worth to upgrade from something bad to something meeh... We woun't see any huge steps anymore just because industry can't make circuits smaller and smaller (just more cores)...from Haswell to Broadwell (22nm vs 14nm) there was almost no different in performance and Haswell vs Skylake there is only 5 - 10% difference in performance. Even the 7th gerneration (Kaby Lake) is 14nm and woun't make a difference compared to Skylake. Maybe we will see a bigger step when we move down to 10nm....
