PC setup for around 700-1k
Asking for a friend who’s planning to build his own pc. Prefer actual expert and people with common sense answering. I got a pretty good idea of what gpu he should get but I’m not very well versed on the subject of cpu. He’ll primarily play gta and fortnite.

if for gaming, what res and fps target?

high fps needs fast cpu and gpu, i5/i7/i9 8xxxk+ oc with good cooling gtx 1080/2070+
will run to the $1k mark easy

$700 is a lower budget build, good enough for 1080p60

if near a microcenter 2600x + mobo = $180+tax

I also highly recommend pcpartpicker. Just remember that their build guides dont include the price of an OS so add $110 or so for windows 10

Casual gamer. Target FPS is 1080p60 too.

win10 is free to use, with limited settings
or you can get keys for <$10, i have not had a problem with cheapo keys yet, and you can contact their support for another if it fails

A ryzen 2600 or 3600, 16gb ram, GPU should be around rx580, 5600xt or NVIDIA 1660s, rtx2060s

Motherboard might seem expensive but X570 is compatible with next gen Ryzens that are coming later this year while B450 wont be supported for those anymore.
