How to use the Nvidia GTX 1050 ti instead of Intel HD 640 graphics?

When I first got this PC i noticed lag and difficulty playing games which a 1050ti wouldn't have a problem playing. After further investigation I learnt that I had the Intel HD 640 Graphics, then I got a HDMI cable as I thought it might help fix it however it changed nothing. Since then I've continued to look through forums for help I recently reinstalled both drivers yet that changed nothing. Now I don't know what to do... [Fixed]

I litterly just bought a pc its specs are: Intel i5 core 7400 and nvidia gtx 1050ti
I am getting about 10-15 frps on rocket league and other games
I need help desperatly!

Make sure you have your monitor plugged in to the GPU and not the motherboard.

The blue cable I've got can only fit into one of the plugs, there is not one so low

and I didn't get a cable that can fit into that one

Then look for one.

You are currently running off the Intel HD graphics and not the GTX 1050 ti.

At the back of my PC there is only a single slot which the cable can fit into

Blue cable you said? Then it's probably a VGA cable.

You will need a HDMI, DVI-D or Displayport cable and a monitor with one of these ports.

If honest, I am a noob at this however the only cable I got was a blue one which can only fit into a slot near the top at the back of the pc

You will need a cable which fits on the bottom.

Does your monitor fit anything else then VGA?

Then look for a HDMI cable, you probably have one laying around. Ask your parents, they will probably have one for you.

You probably have a few of these cables connected to your TV.
