HyperX IIs Sound AWFUL which option should I choose to fix it

So I got a pair ofr these for xmas and without the USB device they ound amazing. I was thinking of buying a headphone jack splitter so I can use them with my speakers and use my mic (doubt will work).
Currently I can only them for that, my PCs boards in built quality is awful as well.
Should I consider buying a good sound card in that event or buy one anyway?

Or should I retirn them for tthe other HyperX Cloud headset

They use low end drivers. For what they cost (100 USD), better can be had. Even just a little over that and you start to enter grounds where you can get some better quality per dollar headphones.

Again, the original HyperX was only good because of the low price. HyperX 2 comes in at a higher price point because of the included USB sound card... and it is not worth it. Cramming a bunch of cheap hardware only bumps the price, but adds nothing of value.

I never used $300+ headphones, true. But i do think that cloud II's sound amazing still. Sure they are not THE ABSOLUTE BEST IN THE WORLD, but they are still great for the price. And i repeat again, if the problem is indeed in his computer, new headphones would not help no matter how expensive they are.

If there is a problem with his PC, then yes, that would obviously need to be resolved. Maybe I read right over it or my audiophile side took the reigns (tends to happen a lot, as I am VERY passionate about audio).

Still, not great for the price. For 100 USD, you can get better and avoid the terrible USB sound card.

It's probably his motherboard. I had an old pc (from 2007-2008) that had static/crackling that got louder over the years and i had to get a sound card to fix it, which it did. It may be the case here too. But it could also be the fact that he is using them through his speakers and an extension cable. I have had some poor extension cables in the past that did noticeably degrade the audio quality.

Motherboard, well thats a long confusing issue but I reckon a good sound would be a good investment as well. As you sound motherboard audio however never noticed yt being bad and very noticble until I first tried these.

A sound card would help, i'm sure. Specially if you ever decide to get some higher end headphones as they usually benefit from amplification which most basic motherboards cannot do and they make audio sound better in general. Simple but solid sound cards go for ~£25-30 on amazon, which is quite cheap and a worthwhile investment.

Sounds good, running through built in audio can't be good for them. And I'm still looking for a pair think I might go higher in budget for headset or headphones up to £130-perhaps. I do love creative they have the best bass on an mp3 player I've ever heard in my life

External DAC/Amps are miles better than any sound card could ever be.

Different designs for different purposes.

Asus Xonar series gets close to what one would consider audiophile grade... But not quite.

Sound cards just haven't appealed to the audiophile crew, so there aren't any that really fill that category.

£25-30 sound card? Yeah, cheap garbage. Probably not much better than most onboard. Seriously, look at the specs. Even the so-called "great" Sound Blaster Z is rather weak. Specs. All about the specs.

The Audigy 5.1 card is weak sauce, mate. It would be a lateral move, as the specs are near identical to the onboard of the GA-Z77X-D3H.

I've been using Fiio DAC and amps for awhile now. They make some of the best bang for buck stuff. High quality components and build quality. I'd recommend them, or similar external DAC/Amps, over any sound card.

FiiO E7 Portable Headphone DAC Amplifier is what I found on amazon, simple enough, Buy one of them and a good headset (maybe the original cloud) and should be good..

The E7 is an old model. It should work fine, but don't fall for overpricing on it. Originally priced about ~£60.

So you will send your cloud II's back to buy the original cloud to save like £10? Why bother ?

The headphone jack i terrible on the IIs, very norrow and there being collected forr free by amazon so no inconvience and far from a 100% thing. It's a possibility, I'll end up going higher quality wise most likely/ Jut hard to find good review online.

Bringing up an old thread just so people can have another answer. I had to RMA my original dongle with the headset that was bought in November of 2016. The new dongle I received is so far working just fine with the original dongle's firmware and driver installed.

The Kingston part number is 3500064-001.A05LF and it appears that the description is USB Audio Dongle, BK Rev 0030. I'm assuming that's revision 3 on the dongles.

1. Anybody encounter the same issue ? or someone can help me diagnose and give a solution ?
2. Do a PCI sound card/internal needed? or it will be just the same since I also tried using hyperx dongle but not helped

How is your sound quality bad? Not picking up "surround"? Crackling? Fading?

Having a soundcard won't do too much, depending on what settings you're currently running with internal sound.

You can do the standard troubleshooting of turning off Spatial Sound, making sure drivers are up to date.

When you use your headphones on the (presuming) tower, are they hooked up to the 3.5mm jack, the dongle, or some other method?
