Windows keeps playing an annoying notification sound, and I can't make it stop.

I turned off notification sounds for apps, and it still does it, sometimes to the point of insanity (one every 3 minutes) It never tells me what program is making this noise, nor if it's not a program what the alert means. It is driving me crazy. Can someone please help me?

This is exactly what I have, what is the solution??

Go to settings, then System, then scroll down to Advanced sound options.

Click on App volume and device preferences. Turn off the volume of the different apps until it stops. If you don't hear the sound ever again, congratulations, the app that you just turned off was making that sound.

I had this issue as well, and after a long time of staring at my system tray and searching trough sounds, I noticed that discord was the culprit. the AFK channel in my community discord was not connecting correctly and would make a sound evert three seconds. I found it by right clicking on my speaker icon and selecting sound mixer and expanded it to show every running program. when the sound played, the only bar that moved was discord. I hope this helps someone!

Amazing, I have searched the windows forums and tech forums and all I found was stupid things like update sound drivers, it is your mail, check the sidebar notifications etc etc. Finally... here... I find the answer. Thank you so much.

Now that I calmed down a little, seriously, thank you kind sir, I almost went mad.

Replacing the mouse solved the problem. The annoying notification sound is gone.

You can't in these forums. It would help if people just use words that wouldn't get auto blocked by Steam

And the only things filtered are blacklisted links and hard coded filtered words like, free and skins. Put the 2 words together and they are filtered no matter what. And websites added to the filter.

I dont see any hearts where a user is swearing anymore.

I just found this solution on another page, and was going to impart my wisdom here lol. Finally, I know peace.

I actually had this problem ages ago and never found the solution. I must've finally responded to the trade offer and never knew what was wrong. But I've spent the past 2 days trying to find the culprit x.x I was playing Stardew Valley around both times, but thought it was just coincidence--it was probably because I was card trading at the same time!

For me, it was the terminal window which I kept open to run ArchiSteamFarm. I was in the middle of writing a command, and then set the window to the background. To get rid of the sound, I just had to close the terminal window.

Why not just click Sound Mixer and Mute "System Sounds"
