How many gb for RAM for cs?
I'm building a budget Pc, and I originally wanted to buy 8gb of RAM, but I need to shave off the price a bit to meet my budget. Should I use 4gb of RAM (2x2) or just stick with my 8gb (4x4)?
(This PC will be used to ONLY play csgo [and occasionally browse the web]) I want to run the game on max at 1080p
-Thanks!

If your motherboard supports it Get a single stick of 8gb unless you are using onboard graphics and will never buy a discrete graphics card.

Just get a 1x8GB stick (saves maybe $10) of common popular ram that you can match up later for 2x8GB like G.Skill Ripjaws 2400mhz/2666mhz.

Motherboards support one stick of ram it's no worry.

(seems to only use 2GB ^ there) If it's truly for csgo only then I guess you can squeak by with 4GB but for the small price diff why limit your PC for re-purposing later.

A integrated GPU. You know Intel HD.

Discrete and Dedicated means one and the same.

8GB is plenty for older games like all Source Engine stuff; but if u plan to play newer/demanding games; just get 2x8GB

nah he didnt ment intigrated as with the context it wouldnt make sense. but through the context i assume he ment dedicated. and well I think that even the HD 520 is good enough to play games like WoT and LoL same as CSGO at 1080p. But in that case you need sufficent RAM to support it. I do the same with my Laptop which only has a i5-6600U with iGPU. The game just crashes when my 8GB RAM is flooded after 2h.

Is there any specific advantages/drawbacks of getting a (4x2) over an (8x1)? Besides the price, or should i just go with the single 8gb stick? Also, any good brands?

Yea, dual channel (128bit instead of 64bit data throughput)
Always use dual channel when possible.
What Motherboard and CPU you using?
(shem) May 24, 2017 @ 4:39pm
Motherboard: MSI- B250 PC MATE ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
CPU: Intel - Core i5-7500 (3.4GHz) (Quad Core)
p.s.- yea, i know these aren't very good, but this is a BUDGET pc, im planning on upgrading

Why u need all that just for CSGO? CSGO would play maxed out on a cheap Laptop even.

But yea just get 2x8GB DDR4-2400

Upgrade what? That'll run everything fine; just get decent GPU, like 1060 6GB or better.

Well if you want mythical 300 fps on 1080p, you probably need an i7. I've seen videos of people with Ryzen 5 1600 OC and only get 200-250 fps on 1080p with the GPU stuck at 70% usage so most likely no Ryzen (or low end i5) can reach that 300fps.

Yea I would have went:
Ryzen 1600 + Noctua AM4 Cooler
X370 Motherboard
2x8GB DDR4
GTX 1060 6GB
SSD + HDD
Win10 64bit

Im planning on upgrading to eventually branch away and play more graphics/cpu demanding games.
As for now, maxing out CS for around 200 frames is my starting point.
