Change "PC" to"Windows"
I suggest Valve changes the "PC" category" to "Windows". That's what they mean, and by saying "PC", most people will take it as "non-Apple". With the new Linux category (:D), it really makes more sense to just put "Windows", as Linux is also "PC".

I agree. PC should not be synonymous with Windows anywhere...
Tangent 12 Sep, 2012 @ 1:48pm
Yep, definitely. Should've been that way to begin with.

Keep PC synonomous with windows. Have linux listed just like Mac is. Why nitpick over something so small as what something is called? just increases the this or that OS is better.

No. Just no. It doesnt matter at all to the OS is better discussion, its just calling what is it what it is. PC is a hardware, OS is operating system. PC is NOT an OS.

And on that note, I'd like to point out that Apple computers are also personal computers (PCs), making the common distinction "Mac vs. PC" quite erroneous.

There's also many more options than just Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X out there, too. To name a few: Haiku, ReactOS, BSD, GNU Herd, AROS, MenuetOS, etc.

I'd say change it from PC to Windows.

Just to play devil's advocate here, anyone who's going to play on Linux should already be tech-savvy enough to know about the whole PC = Windows marketing thing.

That said, I'm definitely in support of this being changed.

Agreed. Nothing really to add, just showing my support for this.

I agree here. It's ridiculous. 'Available for Mac and personal computer.'
That's what PC stands for, afterall.
If it it a computer, and it is personal to you, it is your personal computer, or PC for short.
The distinction of max, linux, and windows, should be clear. Use of 'PC' should be stopped entirely.

So? It has nothing to do with it, really. Lets just make things clear. Its for the better.

Because it's wrong, a bad habit, and will help people in the long run.

Now if only we could use this logic to convince people to stop using SI prefixes to denote powers of 2. (A megabyte should be 1000000 bytes, not 1048576 bytes [a mebibyte].)
