Option to delete comment history.
On Steam, we can see the comments we've made and deleted in the community section on our profile, but we can’t delete our comment history. For example, let's say you made a comment in the past, deleted it, and now you feel uncomfortable seeing it in your message history. I think we should be able to delete the history of these comments. If possible, this feature should be added to Steam through an update.

The history will always be kept for legal reasons as just because others can't see it doesn't mean it doesn't remain internally visible to steam. So just don't sit there are read thru pages of your old comments that only you and steam can see

even if it really has to be kept for legal reasons (and tbh not sure i believe that), there is no reason you shouldn't be able to delete it from your own, self-visible comment history while it is still stored somewhere internally and accessible by valve

Also no reason for you to go digging thru your post history to find posts that you made that offend yourself. No reason to design changes to software for every random desire every random person wants.
its not a bad idea. But trolls who comb through everyones comment history wouldnt like it.

Your comment history might not bother you, but Steam caters to players worldwide. Frankly, my message history bothers me, and I'm sure it bothers many others, so this feature should be added if possible.

No other end user can see your comment history as it is personal to you.

Its something hackers would love, comment history lets people see what messages they sent out when their account was compromised. Letting them delete that just because you decide to look thru your old posts and get offended over stuff YOU wrote, isn't worth weakening security

I mean nothing else to be said on it, don't be surprised when Valve doesn't implement it, i'm unsubbing as arguing over it would be pointless

It is a record of everything someone has posted which could include for example accusing another of being a paedophile, threats of violence, scamming someone etc, so you cannot deny having posted it.

IF someone scammed you, then deleted their comments, would that be fair to you OP? I think this is a very bad idea.

I am already aware that our comment history on Steam cannot be completely deleted. Valve can access this comment history at any time. I am also aware of this. I only want us to be able to delete the comment history that we can see.

Valve protecting comment history from hackers as the most crucial part of the account and not market items of actual monetary value is a curious arrangement of priorities. It is quite hilarious to see how many people subscribe to this very bizarre world view where the former MUST be protected but the latter just gives "lol"
It's called a soft delete. Hidden from public view but not erased on the server's database.
This is for moderation purposes so that people can't just post malicious content then delete to avoid accountability. Plenty of platforms do this whether you're aware or not.

As I mentioned above, I know that our comment history on Steam cannot be completely deleted, I don't want that anyway, I only want to be able to delete the comment history that we, the users, can see, that's all I want.

You appear to be confused as I never once mentioned anything about not prioritizing items with monetary value. So you should go back and re-read the post as clearly you are getting it mixed up with someone elses post.

Also you must be unfamiliar as to how steam operates as Steam also doesn't allow you to delete items in addition to comment history. An easy mistake to make as users are not steam employee's and most users don't have the depth of knowledge myself and a few others have.

Fortunately users like myself are knowledgeable on how steam works and are always available to explain this and any other misconceptions you might have.

This. Agreed with the OP. I wish there were at least a button to mass delete (or replace with a “content removed by author” message) all posts made on an individual game’s subforum, tbh.
Would do that in an instant with everything I ever posted on DBD’s subforum. Legitimately felt I was talking to preteens half the time (and subforum mods with the maturity of preteens).
