Get rid of the Great Soundtrack tag
Seriously though =/ What does this tag serve?
1. It's completely subjective, whereas other tags are pretty factual, unless people are mislabeling genres, which I highly doubt.
2. Are people really searching by this tag to see... what game they should buy because it has good music?
After playing Hotline Miami and absolutely loathing the music, it's kind of a shock to see the "Great Soundtrack" tag applied to it, whereas I'll play a less popular game like Bionic Dues, literally purchase the soundtrack in FLAC because I love it so much, and yet there's no "Great Soundtrack" tag attached to it. Who is this according to - a certain number of people? Because whether or not something is an FPS doesn't require a certain number of people to think so - it's just an FPS by design and so it should be tagged like that and it's a useful tag for people to search with to find other FPS games.

This is an opinion best left to be put in people's reviews. Seriously, this is like... the essence of review material. Next in line comes the "Great Game" tag, because why not? It's equally as subjective and equally as useful. This is the kind of thing we even have reviews for at all.

Please consider removing this tag, it's not a good tag.

Oh, okay, I got it. Only do the images if you want :)

I think this will take a lot of reports though. Seriously, if this tag doesn't get removed, let's also start applying tags like "Great First Level" and "Great Powerups" and "Great Female Hotties" because what's the difference, it's a person's opinion >__>

Well i think its more like if you can see the Music was a huge part of it...
Like on Braid i can say easy that it was.. the music stand out... when on a game like FEZ it had a nice music.. but i really cant recall it.. it was not that wow i think..

On the report page, the third option is to report for "Not a helpful tag". The description for this reason is "This tag is generally not helpful as a way to browse for similar products". That is absolutely the case. If you click on the Great Soundtrack tag to search by it, you will be hard-pressed to come up with two games that play remotely the same as each other. This is because they aren't actually related to each other at all in any way; basically every genre of game is in there at some point. They're only linked by the soundtrack tag, and what good does that do?

Also, like you said, it was not that wow you think. That's opinion. It's best to leave opinion out of what games are similar to each other; that doesn't help anybody search for them.

And, if we're going to tag this based on music being a "huge part" of it, doesn't every game in the music genre need this tag by default? I'd say music is a pretty "huge part" of a music game, but I wouldn't call AVSEQ's random computerized beats a "great soundtrack" by any stretch of the imagination.

I agree... but also need to remember that for a tag to be made there is some amount of it that need to be done... its not one do it and it shows...

I am not disagreeing or not...
I am just trying to maybe get in the Head of who ever made the tag in the first place XD
Well, it wasn't anybody related to Valve, which is currently the problem with these tags. BattleBlock Theater has an Uberhaxornova tag. Seriously? I'm pretty sure that anybody can tag anything with whatever they want.

Some tags are obviously complete gibberish, while others make sense only if you agree with them. I don't want to have to agree with a tag. What if I seriously wanted to search games by "great soundtracks", and that tag led me to Hotline Miami? I would be SO MAD that a tag that's supposed to lead me to a game with a "great soundtrack" led me to that dump. Similarly, I would be mad if I clicked the FPS tag and it led me to Goat Simulator, but we'd change that one. Why are we letting some tags lead people to games they'll disagree should have been tagged that way?

I understand the point... on the other hand some may like it.. .i did not really like as much the music in Hotline mami i mean on a short time to hear it was ok even good.. but when you play all the game with that music :trazz:

I do understand the point.. but to be honest on my own end i think that tag is not that bad... the music one... i mean yes you may not agree to it... and it dose really depends on taste very much...
But i do know some come to the forums asking for games with Great sounds track... so it is a term some look for games...
And on the basic level i think there is something to it... but then you will need to ask.. is these type of music for me ... well that is something else...
But I'm sure people also come to the forums asking for people to recommend a great FPS game, and we don't have a "Great FPS" tag, and for a good reason.

That's all I'm sayin' man.

Good point :D:
XD

At any rate, thanks for tipping me off to the report tag function, I've sent my two cents in to Valve. How much good it will do... *shrug*
Great Soundtrack is a useful tag, sure its subjective to some extent, but just like there's a difference between a good RPG and a bad RPG(or whatever genre you'd be more comfortable with using as an example), there's also a difference between good rock music and bad rock music, to be more specific there's a difference between a good soundtrack and a bad soundtrack. There's multiple layers of how I would define a good soundtrack vs a bad soundtrack.

I would say that a bad soundtrack is when it has horrible pacing in that it constantly plays the same music over and over again. another example of what makes a bad soundtrack would be the quality of music in if it sounds like it used bargain bin price recording equipment. Another would be how well did the game's music fit with the tone of the setting of what you're doing/whats happening? I feel that games that people refer to as having good music deserve a tag to them.

Games like Bastion and To The Moon are two examples of this. If you can't trust the tag enough, then just don't take it into account, or you could look up some example songs online(there is a video on youtube that has almost the entire soundtrack for To The Moon excluding the song that was added in as a bonus for the christmas special). The music for a game is an IMPORTANT part of the game to alot of people
