MUSIC ON STEAM- U WISH? ENGLISH/PT-BR
TRADU

ENGLISH
Hey guys, I'm wondering why steam doesn't create a tool to use and listen to music on their own platform/laucher, it would be really cool, if they thought of doing this, because it could be a service, like a streaming platform, to compete with spotfy, soudcloud, deezer etc... I came to talk this idea here just in case to see if anyone agrees cmg if it would be a good idea, there's nothing better than playing a game and listening to your favorite playlist on your favorite laucher right?

PORTUGUES

Not going to happen as the licencing for such things would be HUGE and for little benefit.

You can't just add music, that's not how it works.

However, if you want to play games and listen to your music, you can already. PCs are very good at multitasking. I do it all the time.

Valve has a music player that scans your device for the music to play.

Is that still there? I thought they'd got rid of it years ago. My bad.

I think the following, steam is not small, steam works with games, music and game themes, it would be a way of entry, to a different market where they could compete, since steam comes out all the new games possible right? an idea that would generate greater fidelity to the laucher, but it's just a thought

The video player is no longer supported in the client but the music player is.

You can even sort purchased soundtracks in your library clicking on Game and checking the Soundtracks filter.

Also, why would they go through all the trouble for this...

No, again, the licencing would be extemely expensive.

They've said in the past they have no interest in diversifying that way anyway, as this has come up before. They have in the past dabbled with certain movies, but they stopped that as it didn't catch on.

I don't blame them as there's no reason for ANOTHER music platform as the market is satureated as it is.

But again, you CAN play your music while playing games, so I'm not sure what you think is missing here, outside of actually selling the music, which ain't going to happen.

Bugger, I bow to your wisdom as always. You keep well abreast of these things and I don't.

I must have got it confused with the movie player then.

Valve promotes OSTs for games and some old animes. I highly doubt with the videos being discontinued they'll even try to dip their toes into mainstream music purchases or streaming. Licensing just wasn't worth it considering the sales were not even close to what they paid for the licenses.
