Revert to Previous Steam Client
I would prefer to run a previous version of the Steam Client on my Windows PC as I am unsatisfied with the recent user interface changes; previously, these UI changes could be reverted with command line settings, and this was sufficient to placate my needs. But recently, Steam has removed this feature, so I would like to revert to a version that allows me to retain the UI I desire.

I must second that as I can not see the Store properly now. If I can not see the Store properly I surely won't be able to see the Cart either. If I can not see the Cart properly then I won't be able to hit the Purchase button.

Agreed, and still don't understand why they're ****ing steam up without offering options. They wouldn't be in this constant ****ing mess if they'd just add options.

Yeah I'm not fan of not being able to have nice clean chat text when I copy it. Previous version made a lot cleaner text to copy. Also dunno if that's still the case but at launch this new UI was noticably resource heavier. With my 4GB of RAM every lil bit of resource saved for performance means a lot. Now that I can't use -nochatui -nofriendsui I'm worried that functionality is worse and my experience with Steam overall is going to be worse. I don't hate on new UI looks; but I am concerned about functionality.

@StrikerThe Newbie I'll hate on drastic UI changes if they don't offer the option of reverting. Hell, why the flying **** are they against giving their users more options?

agree

I literally was having a discussion in another forum (regarding adding a new support option that I think is lacking in steam), and the topic was locked down in mid-post as resolved (when it clearly was not resolved). I expect this suggestion will similarly be ignored and locked. Generally speaking, the average windows user of steam is relegated to third-class citizen. You have 4 options as I see it:
1) Wait for steam to provide the option to go back to the previous UI (which might be a long wait)
2) Leave steam completely (which basically means you lose your investment)
3) Class-action-suit steam/valve in an attempt to either get your money back or force them to provide the previous UI (which will probably be expensive, and have less than a 50% chance of success)
4) Suck it up and get used to the new UI (which by association means you will be ok with being a third-class end user of the steam interface, all the while dealing with the broken ui options being forced on you)

I don't see any other options, and if the previous forum is any indicator, I don't expect this suggestion to go anywhere.

+1. I hate the new friend list and I want my old one back.

give us back the way it was 5 minutes ago before i was asked to update.. i had it worked around where i had the old setup and that was alright for me.. the new one is ugly to my sensibilities. and also why are there scroll bars on the sides of this forum page? there shouldn't be a horizonal scroll bar on anything on steam i don't want to be forced to use full screen on this crap

Thin steam up yo.

Agreed. New chat and friends list setup is ugly, please restore the superior old version.
Baltist Nov 8, 2018 @ 6:34pm
@Shinku Tear At least make it a option anyways. That's my biggest ****ing issue, no additional options, and considering **** like this, that's a MUST!

I hadn't even noticed the Store - I agree with that as well. The new Store is *way* too cluttered. The prior Store interface was much more user friendly.

Steam worked perfectly fine with the old UI, why did they feel the need to "update" (more like downgrade) it? I want my old UI back dammit.

+1. Why force us to use something that many people have already voiced their disapproval over? At least they haven't ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off the option for getting rid of that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ curator ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ yet.
