Do i lose game associated items if i uninstall a game?

I want to reinstall a game (Dota 2) to clean up my in-game profile. In the process of doing so i would not like to lose the in-game items ive gained through it. Is this in anyway possible?

No games are permanetnly tied to your account. Uninstalling them simply frees up disk space. You can reinstall any games you own later.

Note though that uninstalling games may have other consequences. Some games do not save your save games to the cloud. so be mindful of that.

I'm quite sure they wouldn't be deleted, but haven't tried doing it. Very high chance they will still be there.

I do not care about losing data like amount of wins etc....all i want is to delete game data without losing the cosmetic items. Will i retain those items after reinstall? (They appear in my inventory now)

PS. My other option would be to create a new Steam account and if im not mistaken i will not have to install the game again since the files are shared(though the player data isnt). My only concern is that then i would have to switch accounts every time i want to play something else...

Any chance of removing a steam game completely? Some games I've bought I'd rather not see even listed.

Most of the games use Steam Cloud to upload your save files to the Steam Cloud, thus making it easy to restart wherever you left off after you uninstalled :)

@Rumar: I don't think you can remove games that you have paid for. Steam does not give any refunds either. Although you can try sending a ticket.

i have cs go and i have a lot of items, and i have some update problems with my cs go and i wanted to delete it, im scared that if i uninstall my cs go and reinstall it back it will delete my items and all my guns.

Items are stored in the SteamCloud, you won't lose anything.

you can also go to computer > Programs > Steam > steam apps > common. and move that common folder somwhere else and uninstall steam without losing any of your data. and when you reinstall steam you just drag that common folder back in to its place and you'll have it all.

so theres a new cs go update and it updated automatically, when i leave my laptop on my table and went back to see the update finished or not, the update says its 100% but it wont let me click play and when i move my mouse, my laptop froze. it sucks, i cant play cs go now..
