People complained for months after it was added years ago.

I don't think Valve wants people to have the option to disable it.

personally i dont want to read about new features or events, i just want to use them becasue no point of forcing me to read that or clicking that annoying button

I only see things from my wishlist/follow there. ( stop use wishlist/follow then )

this is why you get a inclient view Notifications.

Maybe OP should check own settings "Notification" in what and turn off own wishlist and on sale.

( ask steam suggestion for right click option just like windows sense ppl dont have a clue what settings is there. )

Dont have a left side news feeder, so we are not talking about about top right notifications or steam startup with steam news, or collection news feeder.

i only know them, popup or notifications

steam settings interface, "notify me about additions and more +".

ahh i found a diffrent way to get to library, i dont click on home im in the list of my games and dont see home news at all, im in recent and installed games only. ( no news there, and i click top menu library , then it go directly to my recent list.)

and OP has option in home news to show show lesser of this.

i meant another notification icon near the main notifications icon that only show news from Steam
im fine with the main one but Steam news is annoying and personally i don't care about it at all
not to mention it keep animating until you have to press on it and open the news page (which i don't want)

I click on it and close out of it so i don't have to see it lit up all the time.

I have turn off Animations could that be why i dont see animation at all and only have a passive blue icon then news is there and its not so offensive in the view of it.

yeah and this is whats odd, i have not seen it sense they introduce it , and i have not seen any animation at next to view notifications. and thats monthes ago if not more.

I cant say its that, sense its under Friends & chat, then abit down under chat.

disable chat animation effect, it dont look related to "news to steam" but i have not seen any animated effect at it and forgot all about it, but do remember they flashy then they did it.

and thats why it make sense why i dont even remember this, lets see if other have same as you or me have not seen it over months ( yes its blue then news is there other then that no animations, and that make a huge diffrence. )

i can only hope its that, and if steam made it years ago, should it not flash with news then, i dont have it only blue icon then it do, and easy to ignore.

The news bullhorn can not be turned off.

The update news pop up window when launching Steam can be turned off in the Interface settings, 2nd to last option.
