[SOLVED] Steam Error - Could Not Connect To Steam Network
I had to login to Steam from my internet browser to write this discussion. I've been trying to solve this problem for god knows when. Days turned to weeks, weeks into months. The last time I was able to play a game was May 12th 2013, over 8 months ago (exactly 251 days ago), simply because I couldn't login.

This is exactly what the error message states every time I try to login:

This could be due to a problem with your Internet connection, or with the Steam network. Please visit www.steampowered.com for more info.

I have tried:
1. IP reset
2. Winsock reset
3. After reset, reboot
4. Full PC scan
5. Updating Steam
6. Troubleshoot Steam Network Connection
7. Firebind Test - Result: Successful
8. Updated all programs
9. Troubleshoot my network
10. Being patient

This has gone on for far too long.

I had the same problem, but i managed to resolve it by deleting all steam files except steamapps folder and steam.exe

Deleting all steam files, except steam apps and steam.exe? Do I reinstall it afterwards?

Which Windows are you using?

If 8.1,

I apologize for not getting this out to the Steam community sooner. I hope this resolves any issues Windows 8 users have been experiencing.

^ Maybe obsolete, maybe not, I don't know unfortunately with 8.1

Are you on a wired or a wireless connection?
Blade Dancer Jan 18, 2014 @ 12:49am
No I don't know the reason, may be this could be due to some corrupted file or some error on Steam application.

Strange. So do I delete all the steam files except steam apps and steam.exe? Or all .exe files?

If you're using a Microsoft's driver for Wireless: Ralink version (Ralink WLAN - 802.11n USB Wireless LAN Card") that could explain your connectivity issues. Have you tried to roll back with that?

Edit: Here's how

if you're using windows 7, go to your control panel. Under system and security then click on System, on the left hand side of the window there will be a Device Manager. Your wireless adapter should be under network adapters when you click on that and bring up the manager. Right click the correct adapter and go to Properties, then the Drivers tab. You should have the option to rollback, delete, uninstall, or update the drivers from there.

no leave the steam.exe, when u start it it will automatically download all files ... and in steamapps folder are all your games :) and you wouldn't like to download them all again :)
