An unexpected error has occurred. Your purchase has not been completed.

I don't know if this is where I should post this, but here it is.
I've been trying to buy 3 games for the past 2 days and I keep getting the same error " An unexpected error has occurred. Your purchase has not been completed." I've bought on steam using the same credit card. I even bought something on amazon using the same card and on steam just doesn't work. Any help would be gladly appreciated

I ended up going to EB Games today to buy a Steam PrePaid Card just to get some money onto my account. It is annoying and I hope I dont have to resort to a Steam Card everytime now to get money onto the account...

I'm on mac, with bootcamp, on a fairly good wifi, and I need help. I got this error yesterday, and I tried EVERYTHING!!!!!!! I logged out, I restarted, I got rid of a few files, I used different cards, I used my friends computer, I used his roommates computer, and cracked the space bar on it. AND Steam Support wont let me make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ account because of A DIFFERENT ERROR!! This is mind crushing! If this keeps up for another day, I'll loose out on $35. Help

I got it. I was on school wifi's and it had a firewall that kept me from downloading anything on steam. It's fixed now.

Either have to wait it out, possibly up to a week. Try restarting or redownloading steam again. Could possibly be an overload of purchases on your account. Just takes time to fix as theres no answer.
Create a Support Ticket and wait the reply, usually around 2 days to get back to you.

Having this issue myself. I hardly buy games or anything and there is currently no sale. Seems to be a persistent issue. I've tried multiple venues such as paypal and steam wallet, but I get the same result. I've also used different cards but to no avail.

Currently waiting on a support ticket.

Guys, If you're on a PC try doing this:

1. Go to C:/ProgramFiles/Steam
2. Delete everything EXCEPT Steam.exe , SteamApps , and Userdata
3. Restart your PC
4. Launch Steam.exe and wait for it to re-download your other files
5. Try purchasing a game

same problem in 2016, the thing happened to me yesterday and I saw this tried this

Didn't work. Tried purchasing on the mobile app. Didn't work. Tried purchasing in Big Picture/ Didn't work.

Then I remembered that part of the troubleshoot for this was to make sure your network does not have a VPN or proxy on but I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything like that. Then I had the weird idea to reset my router. Turned it off, at breakfast, turned it back on. Made a purchase of Rocket League. This worked.
