If you've logged in before, to the Steam client, on the old machine, then you shouldn't need to authenticate it again. I don't know why you have to. Maybe try to make Steam remember your password? I dunno...
You can turn off this sort of e-mail verification of new devices, but I think that would mean turning off SteamGuard, which also locks you out of some community features (trading and using the Community Market) because your account will be essentially considered a security risk to other users.
My son is young, I'd actually prefer he not read messages from others, so if turning off "SteamGuard" solves my problem AND blocks community features that's fine. There really should be options for ME to choose how I want it to run though.
Is there a way to turn steamwebhelper too? or the overlay? Lego Worlds is killing my CPU usage on it's own right now, like 4x what Warcraft uses even with the worst settings, and these extra features I don't use would free up resources if I could turn them off.
If you use the browser inside the Steam client itself, however, this shouldn't be a problem. Your Steam login in the client's own browser should be tied to your Steam client login.
You can disable SteamGuard in the Steam settings. Do just make sure you read up on what SteamGuard is and what it does and doesn't do before you disable it, of course.
You may also be interested in the Family View feature, which allows you to have Steam restrict various features, such as Friends list, Community features, access to the Store, access to specific games, etc., without having to disable SteamGuard.
I am not familiar with these issues so I can't help with them, sorry.
I'm new to steam, I just want Lego Worlds for my kids... not all the extra hassle. Thanks for the help.
steam web helper is part of steam to browse stuff like chrome or other browsers but yah u can turn of game overlay by right clicking on game inside ur steam client properties-untick enable steam overlay window in game
You know, what I would REALLY want, is a way for my kids to play Lego Worlds in offline mode. They play Minecraft in their own worlds and only invite friends via LAN (we have a computer room with a bunch of computers). Is there a way to just play Lego Worlds offline without needing to run all the community stuff ?
