Steam in AUD?
I live in Australia, and the exchange rate to USD is not ideal at the moment. I was wondering if it was possible to change it to Australian dollars instead? I heard Steam was adding the currency, but I could never find if it was implemented.

Any help would be great!

Ill be happy when this day comes. Like some of the currencies they have yet no AUD it's like they're claiming Australia in an unimportant country when really we put a lot of money in their pockets.

Ah, that's a shame, then. I was hoping to grab Wasteland 2 because it's 50% off, but I guess I'll just wait ahile. Thanks for the info!

Probably delayed once they realised the AU dollar was freefalling back to the Pacific Peso era. Now they can change their excuse from "Hurr durr higher minimum wage" (ignoring higher cost of living), back to "Hurr durr lower exchange rate" (irrelevant when region price gouging while using same US currency).

If you want to get more cynical, you could argue they kept the prices extortionate and in USD to circumvent the forward thinking types, who filled their Steam wallets while the two currencies were at parity. Now they can have all the benefit of previous advance spending, while giving less back via inflated title prices.

NZD currency will be coming March 24, AUD could be following soon after if you're feeling optimistic.

If the NZD is coming to Steam, I suppose I'll try and stay optimistic for the AUD. I wish I'd bought some games while the exchange rate was better, but oh well.

It's annoying for me to get to Eb everytime I want a game, as my local one is a 20 minute drive away. I could order them online, but the post here is terrible.

Regardless of if it is there or not, the developer puts the prices in, so if they want to sell it whatever the equivalent is or the equivalent + $40AUS, they will do so.

To my knowledge this doesn't matter? The publishers in the US receive the AUD amount regardless, so the forward thinkers just gain from having to spend less AUD but the people on the other end are receiving the same USD amount regardless of what the exchange rate is at.

The longer we wait, the less steam games Australians buy. Very simple in theory really. A number of times I've looked at a game and thought I'll buy that but then changed my mind when I realize that steam is giving me USD pricing instead of AUD. Steam, you want to sell stuff? Give us the option to display pricing in our native currency like every other online purchasing system so that we don't have to wonder how much things REALLY cost, it can't be that hard.
Until then, I for one will be purchasing far less games than I would otherwise.
Steam are the only losers until they can recognize that America isn't the world.

This is going to screw over purchases so very much.

Pretty sure all it does is convert the currency.

its a convenience thing. instead of seeing $60 and thinking "i get paid in 2 days, i'll spend the last of my pay on this" only to realise it's nearly $80, we will finally be able to know exactly what we will be paying.

I don't know how many times ive been jipped out of those few extra dollars i was gonna use to buy smokes or whatever, all because steam is 5 years behind with adding currencies.
