Non-friends voice invite me during competitive matches.
As topic says. I was recently playing a CS:GO competitive match and at the end of the game one guy in the opposite team (not on my friends list), suddenly sent me a voice chat invite. Later I find out some people do this to get the target's IP address and perform a DDoS attack on it, if this was an attempt for that I'm not sure.

Anyway, this made my game lag a little bit for the first two seconds and after that I had that annoying "phone call" sound looping - it ruined my gameplay completely as I lost focus and I could not hear steps properly and we lost the chance of winning the game.

So my question is, how is it possible for a non friend to send me a voice chat invite? If I go into his/her profile I see no option to send him any sort of invite other than a friend/group invite.

And the most important question, how the hell do I block these sort of attempts in the future?

Thanks in advance!

You should probably research what a DDOS attack is. The chance that somebody would do it to ruin somebody's game is ridiculously low.

You can set your profile to private.

I know exactly what it is, and yes, the chances of it are low but it's a known method to get rid of opponents in competitive matches, so it does happen.

So setting the profile to private will solve all of this? Are you completely sure because I googled a bit and people seem to "exploit" the steam url system to send people messages not on your list etc...

Admittidly, I'm not 100% certain, however it's your best bet.

I can see his profile so I guess his is public as well? I see no option anywhere to call him over steam - hm.
In my opinion, people should have the choice to keep it public and still don't get spam messages like these. I'd prefer having it public so unknown people can leave me a comment on my profile page (if they want to trade - I never respond to unknown friend invites anyway).

I have to investigate this matter more deeply and a message to support doesn't hurt I guess.

Sure, let me know what happens, I haven't heard of this issue myself however it'll be good to learn for the future.
