PS5 / PS4 controllers disconnecting/stuck input during multiplayer
Hello,

I've read all that is out there, I haven't found such issue yet and neither a fix for it.

I've got a Steam Controller, PS4 Controller and two PS5 Controllers. I have problems when I am using two for couch multiplayer.

When I am using any of them solo: OKAY

When I am using Steam Controller (has its own BT dongle) and ANY OTHER: OKAY

When I am using PS4 with PS5 or PS5 with PS5: ISSUES

Happens only when on Bluetooth. On USB it's fine. All are charged, work fine solo, have been reset. When we are not playing any game, the controllers stay lit, on. Once we start playing and start putting input into them, this happens:

One of them gets stuck input for a few seconds, and then disconnects. Should I use the fix where I set "Controller goes to sleep after 15 minutes" to "NEVER" (Steam fix), it doesn't disconnect the controller but the input still gets stuck.

Stuck input means: last recognised input will be repeated for a few seconds. Clearly not the best thing you can ask for during a racing game or a fighting game.

Bluetooth interference? Wifi interference? Is Windows doing this or Steam doing this? Does anyone have any ideas please?

My first thought is issue due to the Bluetooth adapter (unable to handle the data transfer of x2 PS controllers in full mode leading to desync?) but unsure where timeout disabled resulting in no disconnect would fit into that...

What behaviour do you experience with non Steam games (with Steam not running)? Or connecting the controllers while Steam is closed and just spamming inputs?
And is Steam Input on or off? I think with it off (PS config support disabled) prior to connecting the controllers (or power-cycling them after) means the controllers will run in basic mode.

I've been reading this: https://ds4-windows.com/troubleshoot/not-detecting-controller/bluetooth/
There are parts that won't apply for you but the info looks insightful - perhaps some suggestion there may help.

I have similar problem. I have 2 PS4 and 1 PS5 controller. When I play only with PS4 controllers everything is fine. When I add PS5 controller, PS4 controllers start loosing connection

I would be so absolutely thrilled if someone found an issue for this. I'm using a wired PS4 controller, and the "stuck input" issue has persisted through multiple controllers & cables, and an entirely new PC. It drives me crazy and I haven't been able to fix it with DS4windows or translating it to xinput, etc.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
