Connecting PS5 controller to Steam using Bluetooth

So I connected my PS5 controller to my PC using Bluetooth and the PC detects it and connects fine. When I then go into the Steam settings for controllers, it doesn't detect the controller. When I connect with a usb-c it works fine. Steam also detects the controller wirelessly if I hold the controller literally infront of the PC but when I move it further away (not far away, just to a "seating position") it disconnects from Steam but not the PC. Anyone experienced anything like this and have a fix?

Try checking for controllers in the Big Picture Mode. Its the TV looking icon beside your avatar and name top right.

Same there - when I hold the controller close to the PC in big picture mode, it detects it but when I sit normally it disconnects from Steam (but not the PC). Very strange...
