What OS are they using?
I have not tried talking to steam support, never really used them before unsure how I would start.
The devs have not been any help so far and the games do not have hard copies.
Quite troublesome haha, there's no virus on the device.
I've also posted in the games specific discussion pages but noone there was very helpful, as I said they just told me to verify my files or something else that I've already stated I had done and then vanished. Or accused me of cheating haha.
It's quite hard to google it as it's a very vague issue I'm having with easy anti cheat rather than a specific game
No fix, there's simply no fix. You could try a full reinstall of your computer. None of the fixes online helped, contacting the game developers does not help, attempting to contact easy anti cheat is a chore and I don't recall if I was able to or not, either way they didn't help.
It ended up working a few months later so I had assumed it was some issue easy anti cheat had patched out.
If you're desperate, I'd say just do a full reinstall, otherwise just play something else for a few months and wait for it to start working again, though I can't say for sure if either of those will fix it for you obviously.
If you don’t trust the link it’s majorgeeks.com and just search anti cheat elden ring. It’s the one labeled How to Fix the Application Was Unable to Start Correctly (0xc0000142). Scroll down to unusual suspects (5) Microsoft.NET framework Redistribution Package. Download and run the program and keep on gaming. Hope this helps, and have a nice day!!
Surprisingly I resolved it. After trying everything for last 12 months for other games, I was amazingly able to fix it as follows:
I recently bought Space Marin 2 and could not run it - to my extreme frustration and anger.
I also bought it via EPIC Games and it could not run. It was due to Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC).
However I fixed it after nearly 1 year as follows:
Go to Settings in Windows
Go to Windows Defender Firewall
I then went to Advanced Settings
By some miracle I decided to add the EAC and Space Marine 2 exe files to "OUTBOUND RULES".
By allowing EAC and the specific game paths to "OUTBOUND RULES" with permission to send data out, I was able to run the games that I wasn't able to do so in the past.
I could then run other games I could not do so in the past such and Fractured Online, Pax Dei etc
In the past I added them to INBOUND rules with no luck. I tried everything up to and including buying a new gaming PC and that didn't work. I also added to Anti Virus exceptions which didn't work. I went to forums in UK, India, USA, Canada, Germany etc and tried everything that was posted online, including on You Tube, but to no luck.
It appears there are many players out there with this issue but no one, it appears, has tried to fix this matter via OUTBOUND RULES.
Hope this helps STEAM and my fellow gamers out there.
