Microphone not working, help me if you are kind.

So I got a new microphone. It works on Skype, it works on the internet and it works when testing it on Windows. However, it doesn't work on Steam.
It detects the microphone, but I can't hear anything.
What can I do?

Skype is on the list of problematic software and seen before to negatively affect Steam with others as well.

Uninstall Skype (check the rest of the list linked as well) and reboot and test the problem again.

I fixed it. I set all settings to default in the Realtek HD Audio Manager.
