Steam, is the worst thing
My download speeds are 3mb/s and steam it's 100-300kb/s, and often it drops and never goes back. It just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stops downloading, ♥♥♥♥ Steam honestly. There is no way to fix this, I have tried ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everything

ISPs advertise speed in Mb (Megabits), Steam shows speeds in MB (Megabytes).

It takes 8 Mb to make 1 MB, so a 3 Mb speed is about 375 Kb/s download speeds. You are getting a good amount of your max speed.

No, it should resume where you left off. It always does for me.

And swearing on the forums will make the downloads go faster, right?

Restart your PC + your Internet modem. However the issues may be on Steam's end as the servers are under heavy load right now. Just wait a few hours.

exactly, it sucks. You cannot do a thing either, it'll be like "oh you fixed it" when it gets worse a day later.

Steam > Settings > Downloads

Check the following checkbox :
[X] Display download rates in bits per second

Adding onto this - It is possible to adjust your download display rate in Steam to reflect megabytes than megabits, so you can more easily work out if you are downloading games at the speeds you are paying for.

http://www.convertunits.com/from/Mbps/to/kilobyte/second

3 Mbps = 375 kilobytes per second.
So it's exactly right. You get the maximum speed from your internet provider.

Steam definitely resumes. If it's not you need to contact support as that is not the proper behavior.

And as others have said you are getting very close to maxed out speeds. Mbps is different from MB/s

I get 50Mbps internet from my provider. so I expect to see around 6+ MB/s from steam. which is what I see. Consistently steam has the fastest download servers of anything I deal with.

I think steam has better things to do right now :))

well, to say the least it has gotten worse. Steam won't even download anything, 0 bytes.
