Steam Client WebHelper Crash
So I know this newest update is causing a lot of problems for people, but so far the one I'm encountering seems unique.

Whenever I try to access any part of the Steam Client that would use the new WebHelper (store, community, in game browser, etc.) the WebHelper itself crashes. Well one of the WebHelper processes at least, another one stays running. But regardless, I'm unable to use any of those parts of the Steam Client.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any info on a fix would be greatly appreciated.

Oh hey, someone having the same problem as me. Steam is mostly useless until this gets fixed. A reinstall did not work.

Here is a copy of the error report:

This is probably a stupid question but how do you view the error report? I can see the reporter task when it crashes but I don't know how to access the report itself.

Is SteamWebHelper not still only in the beta version?
If so, report it in the beta forum and revert to the stable Steam version. This is the issue with beta versions.

I'm opted out of all betas. From what I hear the update with WebHelper has been rolled out of beta at least for a good chunk of people. Sounds like not everyone has it yet, but to everyone who does it's very clear it shouldn't have left beta in the state it's in.

Bumping again so that this gets seen.

Not being able to use 75% of the client is a big deal.

Bump, this really needs a fix sooner than later.

It really sounds like malware affecting the operation of Steam. Not seen or heard of this on any computer I can get my hands on and runs Steam. That is a considerable amount of hardware, btw.

Just swept my system for malware, and there isn't any. So perhaps you could offer something more helpful than 'well I've never seen that happen, so it must not exist."

Refresh your steam files, see if that helps.

Just to clarify, by that you mean clear everything but the .exe, apps, and user data, correct?

I've never had to do it myself, but it's the goto "Fix it" button.

Thanks for the tip, that fixed it!

Heads up to anyone else with this problem, give that a shot.
