"Enable Steam Guard on your Steam account"?
I've enabled Steam Guard already but I have yet to get this task done. What's wrong?

I understand that, yes. I just want to know why I haven't gotten the task done. I've got most of the ones I *can* do for now while I'm still limited.

"Status: Protected by Steam Mobile Authenticator"
you directly activate Steam Mobile Authenticator"? or before steam guard by email was active?
if so you skip steam guard by email maybe its cause that.
to complete that task you have to activate steam guard via steam client/settings

I believe there is a separate task for Steam mobile. Since the part of the badge you are trying to get predates mobile auth, it most likely wants you to enable Steam Guard email. Though since Steam Guard mobile is still Steam Guard, it really should count.

I went straight to setting up Steam Guard on my phone after making my account. My e-mail is verified though. Is steam guard (email) automatically set up after I verified it or do I need to set that up myself? And if so, where in settings do I go to set it up?

It's been a long time since I set up Steam Guard, but no, I don't believe so. I believe the process is that you verify your email, restart Steam a couple of times, Steam will prompt you to enable Steam Guard, then you proceed from there.

Okay, I just looked through a guide and it links me here (link didnt work, but it brought me to my account security settings.). It's all set up though, says I have Steam Guard activated with no option to acitvate it through e-mail, so I assume it's already set for both email and mobile?

Email and mobile are mutually exclusive forms of Steam Guard. You cannot have both enabled at the same time.
just open your steam app in mobile go to steam guard menu you can change mobile guard to email guard there. when your task is done activate mobile authenticator again.
don't forget to change to email guard you have to remove mobile authenticator.

As a note, my most recent alt (May 24th, 2016) had Steam Guard (e-mail) enabled since I registered it. No extra was required unlike there was in 2011.

I have the task done seemingly on it.
:correctamundo:
Enable Steam Guard on your account
_
Add a phone number to your account.
_
Use the Steam Mobile App for two-factor authentication

It's also a limited user, so there's no issue with that.

Interesting. Honestly, it makes more sense to have Steam Guard be enabled by default. I never really understood the purpose of requiring people to opt-in.

The purpose is that it has to be actually activated. It's simply not possible to enable it on your behalf.

How do I enable Steam Guard via email?
Steam Guard is enabled by default on your Steam account if your email is verified and you have restarted Steam twice since verifying your email.

Apparently some co-operation is needed anyway.

Probable that I just didn't realize I had started up my client more than once.
