Can a friend add money to my steam wallet?

I do not have any method of adding money to my steam wallet but can a friend do it for me? He says he has 80 dollars on his wallet and is willing to give me some of it if it will upgrade my account to a normal steam account. So far I have limited functions on my steam account because it was started with a gifted game called next day survival. Here is a screenshot of those limitations

You can not transfer wallet funds to another account.

You can not be gifted money to unlimit your account anyways.

YOU have to add $5 or more to unlimit your account.

Buy a physical wallet card at a local retailer or ask your friend to do that.

A physical gift card just like any other physical gift card.

The closest retailer is 107 KM away, that is minimum 1½ hours drive each way.

There is no way I can get anyone to drive me that far away just to get a Steam wallet code.

Is there no other way to do this?

Contact a local retailer in your city and ask if they carry Steam wallet gift cards along with other gift cards.

What local retailers are in your city?

Surely one sells gift cards. If they sell other gift cards, they should sell Steam wallet cards. If not, ask them to stock them.

Asking a retailer to change their inventory just to suit my needs is very egocentric and silly, especially when they are only allowed to stock what their corporate office dictates.

Your suggestion to do this feels like you are mocking :steammocking: me. Please keep suggestions serious, practical and well thought through.

At least I now know that steam wallet codes exist, too bad the closest retailer that sells them is so far away.

I even called that GameStop retailer and asked if I mail them 20 euros with a post stamped self return envelope if they could mail me the code back. Their answer is they would have to report me to police for breaking the law. The person I spoke to was very nice but could not help me.

Is there no other way to do this?

It is not egocentric. It is something that a customer can do freely as just about every retailer would try to stock what you want just to get the extra sales. I have asked many local convenience stores to stock them. It cost almost nothing to stock gift cards. They are worth less than a cent each when a retailer wants to purchase them.

There is no mocking involved. If you think giving advise on how to request things is mocking, you should stop now.

And what type of deal were you trying to make with Game Stop? You will have to explain that in detail as it seems there are many details missing from that story.

I called called that GameStop retailer on the telephone and asked if I could purchase a steam wallet code and the clerk told me it cost 20 euros minimum and he told me the stores opening hours.

I told him his store is too far from my address and he said there was nothing he could do about that.

I then asked if I could mail them 20 euros with a post stamped self return envelope if they could mail me the code back. He then said no and added if I send cash to them in the mail that they would be forced to report me to police for breaking the law. He had customers in his store and said there was nothing more he could do for me.

I just called 2 retailers of computers close by and inquired if they could get Steam wallet codes and both said no. I asked if they could start stocking steam wallet codes and their answers was both no.

I told them that other people would also want them to start stocking steam wallet codes and the nicer of them said he had no authority to change their inventory because he was only a sales clerk and not even the store manager could because the retailer was part of a chain with a corporate office. He said I was welcome to call their corporate office during normal office hours but said it was unlikely that a customer would be able to change their policy.

The other retailer hung up their phone on me when I told them that other people would also want them to start stocking steam wallet codes.

This has become so difficult that I am now tempted to "burrow" my fathers credit card even if this will get me in serious trouble. He does not condone shopping online and thinks computer gaming is unhealthy. He often says young people today should not be so scared to play outdoors.

Sounds like you are not talking to the right people in charge and possibly asking in a non-constructive way.

You can also try a Game retailer... https://storefinder.game.co.uk/game/stores/search
