I need help and steam support won't help me
I tried to gift a game to a friend for his birthday, but there was an error messege, so I tried contacting support, and all they did, instead of helping me, was banning me from doing gifts by saying "we have detected gifting activity on this account that matches using individual Steam accounts for commercial purposes." It's literally not true, so I tried to contact them again, telling them about this issue, asking them to check it again because it's clearly a mistake. I waited for a complete day for an answer, just to realize my ticket was dismissed without an answer. I don't know what to do... I did literally nothing wrong... I feel so impotent. Any suggestions?

Only support can do anything about it. If that was there answer, use an external payment method to purchase game gifts.

What was the error?

But there's nothing anyone here can do, it's a user forum. And to my knowledge there's not some process to override the current restriction. Nor is there some magical phrases or conversation that would reverse the decision. But in a case by case basis who knows what the outcome may be, appeals might work sometimes. But not everyone who thinks they're innocent is actually so either.

"An unexpected error has occurred, your gift has not been completed. Please contact Steam Support." It happened before some months ago trying to gift a game to my gf, but they solved it with no problem. I don't understand why would they do this. If it was a mistake, I get it, but when I tried to complain they literally ignored me.

They didn't "ban you" they explained why you were getting that error. You were getting that error because of the ban, which is implemented by an automatic set of rules set out by Valve not steam support

Basically, you were either giving too many gifts over a short period or too big of gifts each time. There isn't really a way to reverse it.

You can still use your wallet to buy games for yourself. You just can't use it to buy games for others.

They ignored you because there wasn't anything more to say. The gifting with wallet funds ban is in place. There is no reversing it.

You can still use the wallet funds for yourself just like always. And you should still be able to gift just with non-wallet funds. I know you haven't provided their full original response but based on what others have said I'm fairly confident that your ban is only on using wallet funds for gifting. Everything else about your account is as it always has been.

I guess, I really don't understand why are wallet funds so bad to ban you from gifting just for using them normally, but anyway. I wish I knew it before buying the gift card tho, so I could get my money back since I don't want to buy anything for myself right now, but it is what it is...
