How to appeal a community hub ban?
Hello everyone!

24 hours ago I received a notification which said that I had been permanently banned from a games' community hub.

I'm asking for help because I don't know how to write a ban appeal to Steam support.

I don't want to talk to the game developers because I'm almost certain that they had no reason to ban me and I believe they banned me because they didn't like me posting criticism in the discussions. Also, the developer who banned me left the "Ban reason" blank which is why I think they banned me out of spite.

Can they ban me just because they dislike me even though I didn't break the rules?
Perhaps I've been too critical, but I've never insulted anyone and I haven't done anything to warrant a permanent ban.

I'm a hundred percent certain that I followed the "Discussions Rules and Guidelines"!
The rules are straightforward and I always try my best to respect them.
The problem is - I don't know how to prove that I did nothing wrong because the developers deleted all my posts from the discussions! I cannot find any of my posts in my post history!

Oh and one more thing! I didn't receive even a single warning from a developer or a moderator!
They decided that they've had enough of me and immediately went for a permanent ban.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post! :2017stickydrink:

Keep in mind that game hubs are often ran by the game devs/publishers and that they can have additional rules. Often Steam support doesn't interfere with many decisions, unless things go way out of hand.

And yes, they totally can ban you if they don't like you. It's their turf, not yours.

The ban message will state who banned you (game dev, game hub moderator, steam support member). As stated in the first post, you can reply to the ban message or use the link in the ban message. You can also contact the game dev.

True, but that's basically censorship.
Does that mean that game devs are free to ban whoever disagrees with them or criticizes their game?

Yes. I'm not sure what you think the steam forums are but censorship isn't some boogie man that lets you do whatever you please.

What's that supposed to mean?
I'm not allowed to participate in discussions if I don't agree with the game developers' opinion?
That doesn't make any sense...

It's censorship in the same way that you can tell someone who came to your house to shut up and leave if you disagree with them or don't like their criticism.

So yes, they can do that. Most don't just swing a ban hammer, though, since it's a good way to get a very bad reputation.

Game devs cannot remove or ban reviews, so people always have an opportunity to provide constructive criticism.

Game hubs are basically a wild west and the developer/publisher can do whatever they want.

There is a difference between providing feedback and constantly complaining about something the dev already knows about and derailing every thread by making it about that issue. I don't what you posted but many people who make these types of threads are guilty of this.

If this is a genuine case of a dev who cannot handle negative feedback, just don't buy any more of their games.

I see, that makes sense.

Thanks everyone for helping me out!

Depends where the company of the game dev is. Microsoft does not care. A European developer always does.

CDPR banning people from the Steam forums because they questioned the state of Cyberpunk shows a different picture.

LOL :reexcited: Steam Support will not help him in any way. Steam Support CAN NOT unban any bans from developers. Game developers follow Global Rules & Guidelines, but they may also have specific rules regarding what content is acceptable in their game hub.

OP: You will need to work with the game's developer for more information on why You will get ban. Steam Support will not help You

Incorrect. You're talking about a ban in game. This is a ban from a Steam community. Why would there be a link in the ban message to contact support otherwise?

Read Satoru's post OP.

Read Satoru's post OP.

I am talking about steamcommunity ban and i don't care about Satoru or whatever his nickname is, i blocked him many months ago, probably, i can not see his post here. I had free steamcommunity ban and I talked a lot with steam support, steamcommunity moderators about it, and what i am writing is 100% true from my experience. Only developer can unban OP, and no one else

And stop quoting me, if you have no idea about it
