Friend's pass achievements if you buy the game later

So, I know that if you play via friend's pass you don't unlock achievements. But does that mean achievements are not recognized at all, or would they unlock if you actually decide to buy the game at a later point?

Planning on playing with a friend for now, but maybe I'll buy it later sometime to play with another friend who is also interested.

Anyone knows for sure/tested it?
I've only found a reddit where someone said you earn achievements but they only unlock after you buy the game. Maybe someone can confirm that.
