I need suggestions for a program to make boxes with words and drag them around.
I want to make sort of a virtual pin-up board, where I can write a bunch of things
on boxes and then drag them around to organize them so I can organize a
pretty complicated project.

I don't want to line-editor or table, because I want them to be big and small, and easy to drag, and to be on the left, right, top, bottom, a bunch in the corner etcetera.

I did it with Gimp a long time ago. I think Gimp might be on Steam somewhere.

I could do it with Blender, I know I saw Blender. But it can be hard to remember how
to use Blender, and I don't know if there's an easy way to read the words (and an easy
way to write and EDIT the words) on virtual objects while dragging them. I need to see
what I'm doing while I'm doing it, not just after I hit "Render."

I've never used PowerPoint, but everything I've seen on Powerpoint looks like it's
about 400 x 300 and really really simply and lame.

So.... do anyone have any suggestion of what to use?

Even some of those "Crazy Machine" and "Contraptions" make it easy to move stuff
around (maybe Gary's mod too) except that I'm pretty sure I can't (easily!) write words
and sentences in Contraption and don't know about the others.

Thanks! (Maybe I'll post this in Off-topic for non-Steam programs too. Wish I didn't
have to worry about getting banned for "cross-pointing." xD

Tabletop Simulator? Come on... there's got to a lot of possibilities... I'm hoping people can suggest a lot of them!

Thanks again!

It sounds like you're looking for "mind mapping", "flowchart", or "diagramming" software. Search any or all of those terms and you should get a lot of apps to choose from.

Maybe try the free open office and see if this has anything that you need.,

Sounds like a mind map sort of thing which you could use word or open office for...

Or are you looking to make this in a 3D environment?
A Valve employee has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
