i had bought a game on blizzard and i tried to buy a game on steam and the following issue occured

Your purchase has not been completed. Your credit card information has been declined by your credit card company.

Note that in some cases, your credit card company may put a 'hold' on funds in your account, but you will not be charged. After correcting any errors in the information displayed below, please try your purchase again.

i do in fact have the funds to complete my purchase, actually by at least $25 but my card
will not work no matter how many times i use it.

Ensure you put exact information in the information, as you did on your pre paid mastercard.

If doesn't work try using paypal, or whatever other bank transfer options there is on optional to you at check out on Steam.

That could be the problem. They do not want anonymous purchases.

You may need to go to the website of whatever prepaid card you bought and put in info for it, so that it matches what you put in here on Steam.

Hmm, look on the back of your card there should be a website you can visit, once there see if you can reg the card, and see if you can place address, and name on it with phone number. Once have done that, give the card a try again on Steam see if it works, ensure to put the same exact infomration as you have enter on the card.

On top of the excellent advice already offered here by others, make sure you're not making the obvious mistakes of misreading or misplacing a digit (including that CVV number on the back of the card - the 3 digit number below the magnetic stripe).

It's quite common to do this, so I have to ask it.

But generally speaking, Dr Shadowds is correct. The number on the back of the card is your best bet if you just can't get it to work.

I have heard of Steam being blocked as a precaution by certain banks before, but not with pre-paid cards. In any case, talk to them and they'll be able to advise what's going on.

It looks like this is an ongoing issue on Steam’s side. I can’t get my Pre-paid Mastercard to work either but after calling the number on the back of the card they confirm its active and has a full balance. It should be fine to use anywhere. I even registered my postal code to it to use online.
Steam seems to just not want to accept the payment since its technically a non-registered card.

This confuses me because you can apply steam giftcards annoymously just fine, but the store was out of the 25$ cards so i bought the pre-paid mastercard instead.

I wish a steam representative would respond to address the issue.

Try bank transfer such as PayPal, or etc...

It possible they might be blocking Steam which you have to call the card company for that.

For getting account support you have to make a ticket via Steam under the help section, and they reply back to you within day or so.

Steam help section > My account > Data related to my account > scroll to the bottom click on contact support.

Kind of defeats his point though doesn't it?

If he won't use it online then how's he get an online card?
