If you uninstall a game do you lose the save data?
My PC's hard drive only has about 20GB so in order to install a new game I'd have to uninstall another. However, I still want to keep the saves for later. I just thought I'd ask to be on the safe side since I wouldn't want to accidentally delete them.

If the game has cloud saving; you wont need to worry but any games that don't support this feature will see your game saves saved locally in your documents folder usually.
Most of the times no, you don't lose it. It could happen however but it's rare.

You should make backups of the saves you care about, you can use this software to do it: http://www.gamesave-manager.com/

Or look on pcgamingwiki.com or google.com where the savefiles are and make a backup yourself.
Maybe you won't need the backups but they are nice to have.

no need to worry its saves in the documents section of the pc
But if you want to play the same save file on other pc you have to have cloud save games
I had 99%, uninstalled game on steamdeck then installed it back and lost all my saves. After running it on PC also didn’t have previous saves after that… ea cloud saves were lost
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
