Is it just a spell "checker" and not a spell "fixer"?
When it first appeared, I can remember actually being able to left or right click on a red highlighted word and change it to what I had meant it to be, provided it was some what close to it in spelling. However shortly there after it seemed to stop working. Right clicking only brings up a small menu for Back, Forward, Reload, Stop, Copy Page URL, Copy, Paste and View Source... not to actually try and fix the word I had misspelled, which by the way still shows up underlined in red. What happened? Is it only suppose to show you what is wrong without the ability to fix or something happened to my spell checker on Steam? Thank you.

It's currently just a line, nothing to click for suggestions.

You can disable Steam spell check .
It never worked to fix it just tells you its spelt wrong even if the word is spelt correct.
Thanks to MugShot who found a solution.

C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Local\Steam\htmlcache\UserPrefs.json

Open the file "UserPrefs.json" with a texteditor and

search inside the file for: "dictionaries":["de"]

change it to "dictionaries":[""]

remove the "xx" letters for your language and save the file.

Exit Steam- restart steam

done

I do not want to disable it, I want it to function as a spell checker should. It did it once before. I used it before and was impressed. Then they removed the feature. Why add (or in this case remove) only half of a program?

I have never seen the spellcheck actually work and this spellcheck was introduced back in early 2019 . It simply removes the red line .

I saw it work briefly. A day or a week or so before another update and then it was removed. Unless I am confusing my programs, but I really do not think so. No other spell check program has a similar forum/background that I use.
Whenever i type english, it is all wrong.
This spel chker better not give suggestions.
