M.2 ssd
On the asus fourms people have been saying that the samsung 960 evo/pro works with the asus fx553vd, but the ram on the laptop is dd4 sodimm ram, even though on amazon it says that the 960 is compatible with ddr3 sdram.

https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?97774-Asus-fx53vd-rh71-SSD-upgrade-question

In short:
The fx553vd supports dd4 sodimm ram
the samsung evo/pro 960 supports ddr3 sdram
people say that the 960 works with the fx553vd

should i trust the community with a 960 or go another route (like getting a 970 or even going the route of crucial)

M.2 SSDs don’t care what sort of RAM you have.

You are confusing 2 different types of memory. A SSD has no connection to your RAM type.

RAM and long term storage on HDD/SSD are two completely different things.

The SSDs have their own cache RAM, which is usually LPDDR3. It has no connection to your system.

LPDDR3 is DDR3 SDRAM, just low power variant, like the one found in phones.
