Generic Controller Works On Steam, Now Doesn't Work On Emulators
Hello all.

Setup: Windows 10, Steam API v 020, Sabrent 12-button dual analog USB controller

On my laptop (also Windows 10), I used the controller with a bunch of different emulators: MAME, VirtuaNES, Fusion, SNES9x, and so on. No problems.

In my new desktop, I set up the same controller for Steam (played both Bloodstained games and RAD) before trying any of the emulators. I am having problems with the emulators not recognizing or partially recognizing the controller input. To put it simply, I think Steam has "hijacked" the controller.

I have tried:

--Unchecking the Generic controller in Big Picture mode
--Disabling the controller in Big Picture mode
--Switching off the Desktop Functions (making the controller mimic keyboard buttons, bringing up the onscreen keyboard, etc) in favor of generic button functions
--Turning off Game Bar
--Running the emulators with Steam both on and off
--Unplugging and replugging the controller
--Disabling and Enabling the controller in Device Manager
--Removing controller configuration files from Steam/userdata

I ultimately need to free my controller for use in emulators, and make sure Steam doesn't re-register it again. If that means losing the previously made configuration in Steam, so be it. I plan on getting another controller for Steam, if that will keep the problem from recurring.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

i had the same problem but i managed to figure it out, what i did was going to settings - controller and then editing the keyboard option to a standart option for the controler and then after you apply the layout you want, all you need to do is to disable the steam input option at the top of the layout screen
