Steam guard Authenticator doesn’t show code

I bought a new phone recently and downloaded the steam app, but whenever I go onto the steam guard page in the app, my code is not there (the steam guard symbol (shield and steam logo) is there but the code isn’t). How to fix?

Possible problem?:
- still logged onto steam with my old phone

Nope i have enabled it.
The page says "You'll enter your code each time you lenter your password to sign in to your steam account"
and the only options i have on that page is "help" and "remove Authenticator"

The app has to be transferred rather than simply just installed on a new device.
