Steam not downloading to default folder using remote install
My default folder is on another drive than my steam install. I have that folder set a default, and it still installs games on to my main which is an ssd. The default folder has 51% freespace. Please help me with this. I have already manually moved the games and restarted steam, but it still shows 6 games in my install folder path.

Are you using big picture to install?
If you start an installation doesn't it show you a dropdown menu of your install locations that you can pick?

I used remote install from android steam app. I am now uninstalling and reinstalling. There was no popup, just install.

He's probably trying to use the [Remote Download] button that's available if you go here on a browser (or the Steam Mobile -app):

To be fair, might I recommend Chrome Remote Desktop.

While it's not first party, at least it does the job from afar.

That's an important fact to this problem that you forgot.

Does it work without problems if you use the client?

The problem is that the remote install on the app doesn't go to default install folder automatically. This needs to be changed by the steam developers. This is causing me hours of pain.

That's a fair point, still they will not be able to stumble on this thread if you don't tell them that information.

Maybe you can edit the thread title and add "using remote install" so steam and others can see what the problem is.

Remote install usually defaults to where ever Steam itself is installed.

In my case, always.

Which kind of defeats the whole purpose of selecting a default disk under
[Steam > Settings > Downloads > Steam Library Folders]

That's why I just use Chrome Remote Desktop if I get the lightbulb moment that I want to download something and I'm not at home; but have my PC on regardless.

Sorry for nercroing if it's against the discussions guidelines, but I found this via Google and I also found this behaviour annoying.

Is there some way to report or vote up a bug report on this, or at least verify that one has been created? Is this hard to implement due to this information only being available on the client's machine, not uploaded to Steam?

You could try the latest Steam beta and try it it still happens and if it does report a bug, just make sure to follow the instructions how to make a proper bug report: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SteamClientBeta/discussions/0/864957817327818370/
You might want to search the bug forum first to see if someone else reported it.

If you find a bug report or create one then link it here so the next googler can find it.

They might reply and say if this is indeed a bug but it might take a while to fix since they are working on a large refresh of the steam client right now.
